Laval Claim RSEQ Championship, Again

The Laval Rouge et Or, Quebec's long-standing powerhouse of university volleyball, continued their legacy with wins yesterday in the RSEQ Championships. Both the men and women of Laval put forward a team, and each were successful without requiring a third match in the best of three. The men managed to win without losing a single set in the finals, while the women were pushed to five sets in their win over Montreal.

Though Laval is regularly rated the top team in the CIS rankings, as their men currently are, the team from Quebec has not found success in the CIS Championships of late. The women did manage to win in 2005-06, but the men haven't been crowned national champions since 1993-94. They'll try to reverse their fortunes in two weeks, when they each get another shot at taking home the highest honour in Canadian indoor volleyball.
