Canadians Win Gold at NORCECA Guatemala

Photo: norceca.orgCanadians Heather Bansley and Liz Maloney defeated The United States to take NORCECA gold in Guatemala this weekend.  After a bronze medal finish two weeks ago in the Cayman Islands, team Bansley/Maloney defeated the American team of Grin Grey and Jennifer Snyder.  The set scores were 21-18 and 21-16.  Cuba defeated Mexico to take the bronze medal of the women's tournament.  The Canadians next tour stop will be April 16th - 20th in the Dominican Republic for the NORCECA Continental Cup.

On the men's side of the tournament, the gold medal went to the Mexican team of Juan Virgen and Aldo Miramontes.  The Mexicans defeated Cubans Karel Pena and Javier Jimenez 2-1.  The set scores were 21-19, 20-22 and 15-8.

In bronze medal action on the men's side our Canadian team of Christian Redmann and Ben Saxton defeated Puerto Rico 2-0 to claim the final spot on the podium.
