After another competitive day of FIVB volleyball, the tournament in Sanya is beginning to heat up. A couple of high seeds fell off with losses today, but the marquee match-ups are just falling in to place.
Though not the highest seed, the most notable pairing of Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh made it through another day of competition with fairly little difficulty. The best part? The wins set them up to play against Nicole Branagh and Angie Akers tomorrow. Both squads are American, which generally is enough for a must-watch already. However, this time it's personal. Branagh was left without a partner less than two months before the beach season when May-Treanor and Walsh decided to reunite their Olympic twosome. Now, it's time for Branagh to have a little bit of revenge. They may claim it's all peachy, but this match is one to keep your eye on.
The winners of the first FIVB event this season are also still in the running. Larissa Franca and Julianna Silva of Brazil didn't run into any issues this Thursday in China. If they keep winning, it looks like there will be a second meeting with the American powerhouses in as many tournaments. It's early in the season, but these are the plot lines that will develop all year long.
Keep tuned to Kill on Two, as the semi-finals will be held on Saturday, and the finals Sunday.
