NORCECA: Chiapas Mexico Day 1
The NORCECA beach volleyball tour has started it's fourth event of the summer in Chiapas Mexico. Pool play is underway with Canada sending two teams of each gender down to the event. With most of the higher ranked teams now competing on the FIVB tour, the NORCECA stops are a great chance for Canada's up and coming athletes to get some international competition experience.

CHIAPAS, Mexico — The Canadian duo of Simon Fecteau-Boutin and Cameron Wheelan came with a win of making the podium at a NORCECA beach volleyball tournament on Sunday.
After winning two of their three round-robin matches and playoff games against Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic, the Canadians fell to a Puerto Rican team in the semifinals and a Cuban team in the bronze-medal game.
Karel Pina and Yadrian Escobar defeated Fecteau-Boutin of Montreal and Wheelan of Barrie, Ont., 21-10 and 21-8 with the bronze on the line.
Francois-Guy Allaire of Montreal and William Sidgwick of Toronto were eliminated in the round of 16.
In women’s competition, Victoria Cowley and Alexandra Mingay, both of Toronto, were eliminated in the quarter-finals, and Victoria Altomare of Toronto and Rebecca Crosier of Ottawa bowed out in the round of 16.
