FIVB: Poland Qualification (Live Video)
While Quebec was quite the world wind event for us because we covered it live, it is a new week and the tour must go on. This week the 2011 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour is in Stare Jablonki, Poland for another dual gender event. This time, the event is a grand slam. There was a good number of Canadian teams signed up for this event, but injuries and other teams pulling out have dropped that number down to four, two teams per gender. Team lists, matches, results and live streams below.
Canadian Women's Teams in Poland

Bansley-Maloney |
Canada's Women's teams both won their first qualification matches. Because of the bracket, the two teams ended up in direct competition in order to move on to the main draw. In the end, it was Heather Bansley and Liz Maloney coming out victorious 2-1 (15-21, 24-22, 15-11).
The team of Bansley-Maloney qualify for the main draw, being placed in Pool H. The pool they drew is fairly reasonable in terms of difficulty. They will play two games tomorrow, at 1pm and 5pm Poland local time, and play once more on Thursday.
