Time sure does fly. Two weeks ago I arrived in Quebec ready for the start of the the FIVB Quebec Jeep Open. Since then we have seen another grand slam event in Poland where some familiar faces took home gold. Now the 2011 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour is in Austria for the final grand slam of the season at the A1 Grand Slam presented by Volksbank. There are many Canadian teams in Austria including Heather Bansley and Elizabeth Maloney fresh off a 9th place finish in Poland. Canadian Rosters, matches, results and live streams below.

You may notice that two men's teams are listed on the FIVB.org website, but not listed here. The men's team of Martin Reader and Chaim Schalk will not be attending this event due to an injury occurred in Quebec two weeks ago. Defending FIVB Junior World Champions Garret May and Sam Schachter are also listed, however due to injury we are pretty sure that they will not be competing in Austria.
This event is a dual gender offset event just like last week in Poland. This means that the women's tournament will start one day before the men's. Because of this, check back to Kill on Two for updated matches, opponents, results and live streams.
Update on 2011-08-02 15:20 by Cameron Kerr
After all three Canadian women's teams made it past the first round of qualification, two were paired together in the second round... again. This happened last week in Poland to Lessard-Martin and Bansley-Maloney. Once again Lessard-Martin is unable to defeat compatriots MacTavish-Rodrigue and will not be making the main draw. The other Canadian team of Bansley-Maloney will be entering the main draw thanks to a 2-1 victory over Mexico's Candelas and Garcia. Good luck to both Canadian women's teams in pool play action that starts tomorrow.
