NORCECA: Women's Olympic Qualifier Confirmed

We now officially have the actual date for the NORCECA Women's Olympic Qualifiers for indoor volleyball for this year's London 2012 Olympics. April 29th - May 5th, 2012 are the new official dates for this event hosted by Mexico in the city of Tijuana. The event was supposed to be going on right now, but due to "financial difficulties of the host" it has been postponed. As a result of which, many of the Canadian athletes who planned on being in Winnipeg for the event have now gone and gotten contracts to play for other teams overseas. Volleyball Canada has released a list of the members of the National Team and where they are currently playing:
Below is an update on the whereabouts of athletes that could be among the roster of twelve that will compete in the qualifier in April:

- Nadine Alphonse (Montréal, QC) - FKB Volley Duedingen (Switzerland)
- Marie-Pier Murray-Methot (Québec City, QC) - Val-de-Travers (Switzerland)
- Tammy Mahon (Holland, MB) - Envacom Volleys Sinsheim (Germany)
- Liz Cordonier (Vancouver, BC) - LP Viesti (Finland)
- Colette Meek (Sherwood Park, AB) - Svedala VBK (Sweden)
- Lucy Charuk (Tsawwassen, BC) - Zok Split 1700 (Croatia)
- Kyla Richey (Roberts Creek, BC) - University of British Columbia
- Julie Young (Red Deer, AB) - pending contract in Pieksamaki (Finland)
- Brittney Page (Vernon, BC) - pending contract in Sweden
- Tasha Holness (Calgary, AB) â pending contract in Indonesia
Those remaining in Winnipeg to train from January through to the qualifier in April are:
