Gaumont Casias and Davidiuk Retire

Within the last couple of days, two members of the men's indoor national team have retired. Brock Davidiuk and Alexandre Gaumont Casias ended their careers this month after 12 and 9 year careers respectively. From the Volleyball Canada press releases:
Gaumont Casias helped Team Canada qualify for the 2010 World Championship in Italy at the 2010 NORCECA World Championship Qualification tournament in 2009.
He returned to the Canadian lineup during a European Tour in Estonia and helped the Canadian team to a first place finish at the event following a long absence that saw him miss both the 2011 Pan Am Cup and first leg of World League qualification due to injuries.Davidiuk, first wore the Maple Leaf in 2002 as a member of the Junior National Team that won gold at the 2002 NORCECA Junior Championship in Kelowna, BC. The following year, he returned to selection camp and was once again named to Junior National Team roster that finished 9th at the 2003 World Junior Championship in Iran.
I wish both Brock and Alexandre the best of luck with their future endeavors and thank them for their years of service to our national team.
Volleyball Canada also announced today that another member of the men's indoor national team has retired. Nicholas Cundy has ended his 9 years with the national team.
Cundy played in 81 international matches, three of those at the 2010 World Championship in Italy. Cundy was also part of the 2011 senior team that qualified for the 2012 World League and placed second at the NORCECA Olympic Qualifier.
“My time with Team Canada was invaluable,” said Cundy. "I spent nine summers with the team, and this is where I built some of my best friends. It was a pleasure going to work with the guys.”
