The Canadians are ready to take on Poland this Friday on the opening day of the third stop of 2012 World League, in Sao Bernardo do Campo, Brazil. Team Canada trained earlier this afternoon trying to adjust some plays in order to finally beat the Poles. So far, Poland has beaten Canada 3-1 and 3-0. The Canucks defeated Brazil 3-2 and lost 1-3, and beat Finland 3-0, losing 2-3 in the last weekend. Canada and Poland play tomorrow at 11:30 a.m. EST. On Saturday they’ll face Brazil (8:50 a.m. EST), playing Finland on Sunday (11:30 a.m. EST). The final weekend in pool play will be held in Tempere, Finland.

Canada’s head coach, Glenn Hoag, says the team has been improving and believes they can reach a higher level this weekend. “We made too many mistakes against the Poles in Toronto and in Katowice, we should be more focused this time”.

Setter Olivier Faucher arrived in Brazil this afternoon. He was called to replace Dustin Schneider, who aggravated his knee injury in Poland, having to return to Canada after the last weekend. Team Canada starter in the World League is Josh Howatson. For the game against the Poles the line-up will probably be Fred Winters and Gord Perrin (left sides), Justin Duff and Adam Simac (middles), Gavin Schmitt (opposite), Josh Howatson (setter), and Dan Lewis (libero).
