FIVB: Binstock/Schachter Rolling in Doha
Josh Binstock and Sam Schachter are showing no indications of cooling down any time soon. The red-hot Canadian duo won Canada's first FIVB Gold medal in 18 years this past weekend in Argentina, and followed that up by breezing through pool play in Doha, setting them up with a bye to the second-round.
They take on Gögtepe/Giginoglu of Turkey tomorrow at 9:00 a.m. ET/6:00 a.m. PT for a spot in the quarterfinals.
Two other Canadian teams were competing in Doha as well. Maverick Hatch and Garrett May, playing in only their second event together, had a tough time finding a win and finished 25th.
Mike Plantinga and Cam Wheelan had a little more luck, stealing a win from the host nation in pool play, but falling to the Italian Ingrosso brothers in the first round to finish 17th.
The FIVB caught up with the pair for a quick interview, you can read that here. (although we're not to sure who Christian Reader is...)
