Canadians in Action: February 11th
Champions League
The knock-out stage of Champions League is now underway and two Canadians have made it through with their respective teams. Here's what you can see today:
Azeryol Baku vs. Unendo Yamamay Busto Arsizio
9:00 a.m. ET/ 6:00 a.m. PT
Tabi Love (Dauphin, Man) and her team from Azerbaijan play host on the giants from Italy Unendo Yamamay Busto Arsizio in the Champions League. For those who watched Busto against Dresdner SC, you know they have some serious firepower on their roster, including 6'6 Italian 22 year-old Valentina Diouf.
Dresdner SC vs. Fenerbahce Grundig Istanbul
1:30 p.m. ET/ 10:30 a.m. PT
Shanice Marcelle (Victoria, B.C.) and Dresdner SC squeaked through to the playoff round by having one of the two best third place finishes. Their reward is none other than the only undefeated team in the competition, Fenerbahce Grundig Istanbul from Turkey. If you saw Fenerbahce's matches against Azeryol Baku in the previous round, you know the kind of onslaught Dresdner is expecting. That being said, Dresdner did open the Champions League with a victory over defending champs Dynamo Moscow.
