NCAA: Bukovec Named All-American as USC Wins Championship
The USC Trojans team has captured their first AVCA Collegiate Sand Volleyball Team Championship this weekend with a 3-0 against Long Beach State in the finals.
The win was especially sweet for Sophie Bukovec (Toronto, On) who was a member of LBSU for the fall semester during the indoor season, then transferred to USC in January for sand season. Her and partner Alexa Strange bowed out of the Pairs Championship against USC's top team, and eventual winners Sara Hughes and Kelly Claes, in the quarterfinals and were an instrumental part of the Team Championship as USC-2.
The Trojans went a perfect 28-0 this season on route to their first team championship in the sport, but Claes/Hughes are the third-straight Trojan team to take home the pairs title. For Sara Hughes, it's here second championship in a row, having won it all in 2014 with Kirby Burnham.
