FIVB: Beijing Grand Slam (Men and Women)

We are still in China on the 2012 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour. The Beijing Grand Slam is this week's tournament and for the first time this year, Canada will not have a single team directly entered into the main draw. Four women's teams and three men's teams will be competing in Beijing with two Canadian men's teams waiting on the reserve list. For the third time this year we might see a Canadian team eliminate another Canadian team in the tournament. The last two happened on the women's side of the game with a second round elimination of Lessard-Martin by Broder Valjas in Sanya, China and Lessard-Martin eliminating MacTavish-Rodrigue in the second round of qualification in Brasilia. In Beijing, if Maverick Hatch and Sam Schachter as well as Josh Binstock and Martin Reader win their first round qualification matches, they will be playing each other in the second round.
