The Week in Review
In the Eastern Standings, York remains undefeated. Queens also goes 1-0 this weekend, to remain atop the East standings with York.
3rd ranked Ottawa only had one game against RMC, which they swept in 3 sets. It’s tough to say exactly what we learn from that.
East Standings
Queen’s 6-1
York 6-0
Ottawa 5-2
Sorry to draw attention to it, but Windsor doesn’t win a set and remains winless in two matches this weekend.
In the West, McMaster won their only game of the weekend, moving to 6-1.
Guelph had a chance to stay one win ahead of McMaster, but lost in 4 sets to 3rd ranked Brock.
Western goes 2 – 0 on the road spending time in Waterloo on the weekend. Western moves to 4-2, with a couple less games played than the conference leaders.
That leaves the top of the West looking like:
West Standings
McMaster 6-1
Guelph 6-2
Brock 6-3
Western 4-2
University of Toronto sweeps Lakehead at home during back-to-back games. Those were Toronto’s first two wins. Lakehead moves to 2-6.
Upcoming Weekend
Ottawa has a tough game in Hamilton against West Standings leader McMaster on the 26th. The next day, they play the 2nd seed in the West, Guelph. Both are road games for Ottawa. These are the marquee matches to keep your eye or ear on this weekend.
Brock and Western should prove to be interesting for the West Standings, played in London on the 26th. The next night Brock plays in Windsor, followed by a third straight game against Lakehead on the Sunday. Western only plays the one game against Brock.
Undefeated York play two games at home versus Lakehead on Friday and Saturday. Remember, Lakehead just lost twice at home to give U of T, their very first wins. It’s just interesting to see if York will keep the undefeated season going as we move into the Christmas break.
Queens is inactive over the weekend.
Remember, no games after this weekend. Volleyball picks up again on January 7th, 2011. That’s right, 2011.
