The Week in Review
The York Lions, who had spent most of the year undefeated and atop the Women’s’ standings, lost their only game of the weekend to the Ottawa GeeGees. Ottawa went on to win their second match of the weekend to give themselves a nice boost in the standings. Those wins, coupled with two straight Queen’s losses, push Ottawa into second in the East Standings right behind the Lions. York still looks good with a game in hand, but the GeeGees have been hot of late. The three-horse race in the East looks like this:
McMaster had only one match this weekend, which they won in five sets against Brock. That leaves them with only one loss on their record, meaning they now sport the best record in all of Women’s OUA Volleyball for now. Guelph did what they could to maintain pace by winning their only match of the weekend. Western had a productive weekend by beating a tough Queen’s team and RMC, both in straight sets. The win vaults them clearly ahead of Brock (who lost their only match this weekend), while still having a game in hand over both Brock and Guelph. The end of the season is coming quickly, and the West Standings look like this:
