Read MoreFresh off the Canadian National Beach Championships, we are back on the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour. We have four Canadian teams participating in this women's only event this week in Finland. Last year, the Paf Open was a dual gender event and Canada sent two women's and two men's teams. This year, the event is women's only and returning to Aland is Bansley-Maloney who finished 17th in the 2011 event. Full team lists, results and live streams below.

Sadly, that time has come. The final event of the 2011 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour is here and we must start to say goodbye to the warm sand. The final event of the tour this year is a women's only event set in Phuket, Thailand. The Phuket Thailand Open will take place from November 1st - 6th, 2011 and Canada is sending four teams to close of the tour. Returning to Thailand to better their 9th place finish from last year, Heather Bansley and Elizabeth Maloney are the highest ranked Canadian team and have enough entry points this tournament to get a direct entry into the main draw. Behind them are Marie-Andrée Lessard and Annie Martin who have had a little bit of a disappointing season starting out with 860 points in their first event of the summer and direct main draw entries for their first four events. Team Lessard-Martin (now with only 320 entry points) will now have to go through the qualification part of the tournament. The remaining two Canadian duos that will be joining Annie and Marie in the qualification round are Victoria Altomare and Caleigh Whitaker and the team of Jamie Lynn Broder and Kristina Valjas.
As always check back to Kill on Two for results, live streams, matches and anything else we can find.

After three days of play at the 2011 FIVB Junior World Beach Volleyball Championships in Halifax, we are down to quarter final action on both the men's and women's side of the tournament. Canada saw five teams make it out of pool play and into the elimination round. Sidgwick-Kazhamiaka won their pool and joined Demyanenko-May and Del Bianco-Chow on the men's side of the tournament to represent Canada in the later rounds of the tournament. On the women's side two teams made it out of pool play as well. Hudson-Sider and Altomare-Humana-Paredes will continue on in the elimination part of the tournament. Unlike a normal FIVB grand slam event, this event is single elimination. Matches, results and brackets and live streams below.

The 2011 FIVB Beach Volleyball Junior World Championships starts today in Halifax, Nova Scotia and will run until September 4th. Canada was chosen to host this year's event due to Garret May and Sam Schachter winning the gold medal last year in Turkey. Garret is back this year with a new partner, Danny Demyanenko. On the women's side of the tournament, recent bronze medalists at the 2011 Canadian National Beach Volleyball Championship Melissa Humana-Paredes and Victoria Altomare are also in Halifax with a direct main draw entry. Due to Canada hosting as well as previous finishes, every Canadian team on the men's and women's side of the tournament will begin in the main draw. Main Draw action starts on September 1st. So I am currently in the air on my way to Quebec City, Canada for the next stop on the 2011 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour. Quebec City is the only North American stop on the FIVB this year so many Canadian and American teams are utilizing this event as an opportunity to gain some international experience and maybe even get a few entry points to their names. Sandwiched between grand slam events overseas, some of the teams that regularly compete on the tour are skipping the Quebec event in favour of a week off. Country quota matches take place on Tuesday July 19th with many Canadian teams and a few American teams taking part. As always, check back to Kill on Two for scores, results and live streams.
