Read MoreWhere has this summer gone? Not too long ago I was writing our first post previewing the first stop of the 2011 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour. This week we see the last tour stop of the summer coming from the HP Beach Open from The Hague, Netherlands. Covering the FIVB tour for the first time this year has increased my knowledge of the sport greatly and I look forward to next year. On top of that, attending the Jeep Open in Quebec City, Canada was probably one of my more favourite times in my 13 years of volleyball. I look forward to going back next year, and hopefully going to some other events as well.
I'm getting a little ahead of myself here. We do have one more event left this summer as well as two single gender events in the fall that are still technically part of this year's tour. On the Canadian side of things, action is pretty quiet overseas. Most Canadian teams are home for Canadian Beach Nationals this weekend in Toronto. Only one women's and one men's team from Canada will be playing in The Netherlands this week.

The FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour continues this week from Aland, Finland with a dual gender event. Four Canadian teams will be competing in the Paf Open this week with most of the teams being the young up and comers as opposed to the regular full time FIVB tour players. On the women's side we have Heather Bansley and Liz Maloney who do compete full time on the tour who have gained direct main draw entry this week. The other women's team is the team of Jamie Lynn Broder and Ashley Voth who will have to go through the qualification round. The men's side of the competition sees two teams: Andrew Hinchey and Ryan Vanderburg as well as Steve Marshall and Chaim Schalk.
